Rate Your Team’s Unity

If on one side of the spectrum is extreme unity and the other is complete division, how would you rate the level of unity in the following areas of your life?

  1. Your marriage
  2. Your family
  3. Your work team
  4. Your church
  5. Other non-profit/ministry work

Give each group a score from 1 to 5 according to the following scale.

  1. Explosions and implosions. This is unity at its worst. Your team is coming apart at the seams. Deep divisions are ripping, or have already ripped, your team wide open.
  2. Frequently at odds. Disagreements and conflicts arise constantly among team members, hindering cohesive collaboration.
  3. Walking separately, but in the same direction. The team co-exists, but there is no fire, no bond. The relationships are shallow, and the unity is fragile.
  4. United in step. A high level of harmony and synchrony pulses within the team. Everyone is excited and aligned, progressing together toward shared objectives.
  5. Becoming ONE. The pinnacle of unity. Individual differences dissolve, and the team operates as a single, cohesive entity with collective purpose and synergy.

Take a few moments to rate the above areas of your life. What numbers did you get? Mine currently range from 3 to 5, however I have certainly experienced levels 1 and 2 in before.

If you’d like to generate stronger bonds with the people you lead, the first step is to rate the presence of unity in the different areas of your life and leadership. In the next two articles, I will share valuable insights on why unity is important, how to create it, and how to protect it.

How can I support you more as a Christian leader and entrepreneur?
