Why Was I Created?

Why was I born? Why did God create me? And to do what? When we ask these questions because we seek an answer in the form of a profession or a list of tasks from God, we err.

Why were we born? We were born to be united with God. Full stop. From that unity with Him everything else, including what we should do, will come.

As Christ followers, we know that Jesus is our model for how we live our lives. As we read through the gospel, we see that Jesus and the Father shared perfect unity. From their unity, their perfect relationship, their pure love—from that, Jesus was obedient and fulfilled His calling to do what the Father asked Him him to do: redeem us by dying on the cross.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we have one specific life purpose and that we should go on a journey to find out what it is. Let us then shift our focus for being to this: God created us because He wanted to be in a loving relationship with us. From that relationship, action may come. But the deep relationship, what I am calling union with God, is the goal.

My leader friend, let’s rest in that knowledge. Rest in the knowledge that God loves you. Love Him back. The journey we must go on is to learn how to love God, not so much to find out what the Lord wants us to do.

How can I support you more as a Christian leader and entrepreneur?
