I have a five-year-old boy; and 1½-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. I have recently been intentional to read material about parenting, specifically on how to raise boys. If you have a boy, consider reading this Christian parenting book: Raising a Modern-Day Knight by Robert Lewis.
Lewis shares how fathers have a unique role in raising their sons. He reveals his own journey with his son, specifically how he was led to study the different stages of preparation medieval knights went through to enter their life of honor and service. The author details how he adapted this process to lead his son through experiences and ceremonies to guide and teach him the principles he wanted to impart to him.
He defines the responsibilities of a man as:
1.Rejecting passivity
2.Accepting responsibility
3.Leading courageously
4.Accepting the greater reward, God’s reward
Good stuff. I’d love for my sons to have these qualities.
